A teeeeny garden in a posy funeral tribute....
I just had to share some pictures of this tiny little funeral tribute made today. Imagine wandering round a miniscule cottage garden of sweet and gentle little flowers. I used viola plants, dill, button chrysanthemums ( highly underrated )daisies, berried ivy, vibrant spray carnations ( again, much maligned ) and various natural foliages. The posy was given a misting of water then boxed up for a journey to Birmingham. I am glad the weather promises to hold out.

Till Death do us Part........
Do forgive me the title but I felt it was kinda appropriate for this post. As you may know, I am seriously into the business of weddings. When a guy called Joe walked into the shop a few months ago, I didn't know what to expect. He had a pierced lip, tattoos and a baseball cap and was a proper dude.......
Moving on, I am delighted to say that this weekend, we will be doing Joe and Gemma's ROCK wedding. Joe is in a band and the whole theme for the wedding is pure rock chick. Gemma is so giggly and cool too and I am just bursting to see the venue, cake and other decorations. Their cake is going to have a skull on top with a tattoo style banner saying 'till death do us part'. I CAN"T WAIT.
My part of this event is naturally to do the flowers. Can you imagine my squeal, when Gemma said she wanted red roses and black ostrich feathers?? BLACK OSTRICH FEATHERS!!! for real! I so wanted to do that thing where American college kids hold up their forefinger, little finger and thumb and shout WOOOOOOOO!!!! ( like at Spring Break? ) but I managed to rein it in.
So here a little taster of Gemma and Jo's table decorations. I am using a black cube vase, deliciously scented and velvety Grand Prix roses, dark green foliage, asparagus fern to mimic the ostrich feathers. Step by step pics to follow. I will show pics of the bouquet and bridesmaids' bouquets and buttonholes in next blog or so......

Rocking Royals
At the beginning of this year, a lovely lady called Fleur walked into the shop to enquire as to whether we did wedding flowers. Hell yeah! I replied. Well, not quite but after checking the date of her wedding and double taking I had to make a quick call to Buckingham Palace to inform them that sadly, I would have to bump William and Kate on the 29th April 2011 as I preferred this couples nuptials in Brighton. The Queen took it quite well I thought.....
Fleur and Alex were cool. Super cool. Their wedding plans sounded like a lotta fun and Fleur had one hell of a vision for her flowers. Her colour choices were fresh and vibrant as was her approach to their wedding. She chose a hot palette of pink ranunculus, roses, lilac freesia and vibrant blues. A smaller bouquet of the same flowers was decided upon for her sister. I fell in love with her dress which was a pale pale silver grey column style dress with a one shoulder detail.
So on that Bank Holiday, here is what happened. We got a day off and Fleur got her gorgeous wedding flowers and the bonus that all her guests had a day off work to join the happy couple at The Unitarian Church in New Road then for a cracking do after at The Thomas Kemp pub in Kemptown.
Happy bonus too that the wedding was covered in the uber cool website Rock and Roll bride with the most wicked write up. Fleur and Alex have
Kindly agreed to let me feature the feature here with you all here so thank you guys!
Enjoy the details!!!

Orange you glad?
Ok, so forget Easijet and spray tans. The colour du jour is orange. Yes, my flower loving friends, ORANGE. I admit that the season has awful lot to do with the rise and rise of the orange underdog but you only have to look at the catwalks to see how fashionistas this season have deigned to give it a big catwalk time in shades of hot coral through to nude peaches. I personally have managed to get on board with it, it seems to go extraordinarily well with cream and hot pinks and strangely pale blues. Sounds like a terrible faded flower arranger's manual from 1954 but trust me, it work.
Here are some peachy shots ( sorry ) of orange loveliness going on in the shop from today.
Who would have thought the humble gladioli could look so HOT?

Well, I think its about time.
Forget the cheesey cliches about a rose being a rose being a rose. I want to share with you the million delights that I come across every working day being in a flower shop. As of yet, I won't be able to share the wonderful scent of a flower filled shop but let me tell you, the first five minutes of coming in to work are pretty amazing!!!
So, let me show you some secrets, tell you some tales and generally get you involved in the workings of a good old fashioned florist.
Welcome to the first official Miss Mole's Flower Emporium blog ' A Flower a Day '
